Kekoa’s vision from the start has been quality, both in fabrics and workmanship, ethics, and a lesser footprint. We believe in innovation and progression, not just releasing our prints in the same widely available standard offerings. With this comes a sense of responsibility, a sense of leaving our planet a better place for our little people.
OUR PRODUCTS
Our nappy shells are, made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic bottles (GRS certified fabrics), which helps reduce manufacturing energy by 75% and water consumption by 90% (when compared to virgin polyester fabric).
Each nappy saves approximately six plastic bottles from our oceans and landfill.
PACKAGING
Our products contain minimal packaging and for those that come with, we have chosen to make it reusable, functional, or biodegradable/recyclable.
We aim to reduce our use of single use products.
COURIERS
When shipping your products we use repurposed cardboard, recycled or compostable plastic courier bags, recycled tissue, and biodegradable cotton/jute twine.
We are aware many people are time constrained/don't have the inclination to home compost so we have opted to give plastic a second (or third) chance by using recycled plastic mailers.
We encourage our consumers to open their mailers carefully, turn inside out, and reuse again for their own personal shipping needs.
SAFETY
Our new premium products use STANDARD-100 by OEKO-TEX® fabrics so you know what touches your baby goes beyond many of the national and international requirements for chemical safety.
MANUFACTURING
Where possible we work alongside our manufacturing facility to use up additional materials we have inadvertently created during production. This means not throwing away samples, using up additional leftover fabric, and taking imperfect product for seconds.
Our manufacturing company is SMETA audited to ensure they are upholding ethical and sustainable working conditions. This includes ensuring workers have representation, sustainable livelihoods, and gender equality - beyond many of the standard requirements of things like fair pay and prevention of forced labour.
