Nappy Recycling Program

$5.00 NZD

At Kekoa we are dedicated to reducing our global footprint by recycling materials. That is why we have chosen recycled polyester fabrics for our products, recycled courier mailers, and no individual plastic wrappers. It is important to us to reuse the plastic already in circulation and help fight excessive waste.

We have a strong ethos of tiaki, to protect - to take care of, and for us we want to leave a better future for our littles, the customers who wear and enjoy our products.

This is why we have paired with TerraCycle® to recycle your used nappies and sanitary products - something that is not possible through your usual council recycling programs. We accept any brand's used or end of life nappies, cloth accessories, and reusable sanitary items. Please ensure they are washed and dried, they do not need to be sanitised (but you are welcome to if you choose).

To opt in to our recycling program

  1. Purchase your spot in the program (this helps cover some of the recycling, sorting, and admin costs at our end)
  2. Sit back and wait for your email with instructions on where to send your goods back to
  3. Wash and dry your items, sanitising is not necessary but you are welcome to
  4. Pop down to your local NZPost shop and send us your bag of used items
  5. Once your items are back with us, we will sort and process them and send you a 15% off voucher to use at our store

Please remember to only send us REUSABLE

  • cloth nappies including swim nappies
  • cloth nappy accessories (inserts, liners)
  • wetbags
  • change mats or play mats
  • training pants
  • nursing pads
  • sanitary pads

If you are not sure, get in touch prior to posting and we will see if your items qualify.

40°C wash recommended (60°C max)

No bleach, whiteners, vinegar, or softeners

Avoid sharp objects such as velcro/hook&loop - consider using a wash bag

Line dry in shade

Due to the nature of the fabric in our flexible wings, we recommend hand washing your nappy shells with like colours when you receive them until the water runs clear (i.e. reds together, darks together). This helps prevent colour run which can occur occasionally due to excess dye in the manufacturing process.

For full washing instructions, including hand washing a couple when you are just starting out, please refer to our care page.
